Together Again – Just in Time for Valentine’s Day

Abraham Lincoln died April 15, 1865, but his memory lives on in movies and books. As our nation honors him and our first president George Washington this Presidents’ Day, we can only imagine what Honest Abe is thinking.

Together Again, a short story about a teen named Abe and Lincoln, let’s you muse about that. In this ebook set in modern day, a 17-year-old soon-to-be college history major named Abe dreams about the former president. In Printthe dream, he sees Lincoln talking to God. Forever the statesman and attorney, Lincoln is arguing he shouldn’t be given credit for ending slavery and saving the Union.

“ ‘It’s not like I singlehandedly put the nation back together again. I wasn’t even there anymore! I died!’ ” Lincoln exclaims.

Lincoln convinces God someone should tell his story to this generation; the modern Abe believes he’s just the man for the job!

As he does his research, the modern Abe discovers he has more in common with Lincoln than his first name. They both had girlfriends named Ann: Lincoln lost his girl to typhoid while the modern Abe chose to end the relationship because he figured he would end up marrying too young.

In time for Valentine’s Day, Together Again teaches readers to appreciate and cherish love whenever you find it, at any age. Lincoln’s unusual appearance in a dream drives home the lesson that no one should ever be more of a hero than Jesus Christ.

“The book is fiction, but I tried to make Lincoln’s comments in line with his character – he is honest, willing to go out of his way to do the right thing, and he is an excellent statesman,” says the author, Cheryl Rogers, who publishes New Christian Books Online Magazine.

Together Again is based on stories about Lincoln preserved from the 1800′s in Anecdotes of Abraham Lincoln and Lincoln’s Stories, as well as some videos and online reading.

“There is a lot of conflicting information about Lincoln out there, but I enjoyed reading about how faithfully he served this nation,” Rogers says. “I am convinced he sought God as he lead this nation during the Civil War and did what he thought God wanted him to do.”

Together Again is available at Amazon, Smashwords, the New Christian Books Online Store and other online retailers. It retails for 99 cents, but will be free at Smashwords for a limited time using the coupon code XK93X.

A former newspaper reporter who came to know the Lord as an adult, Rogers writes fiction and nonfiction for all ages to share her faith. She recently started a Bible Camp Mystery series for young adult readers that features a relatively inexperienced group of 10- to 16-year old campers. In the first ebook, Lost in the Woods: A Bible Camp Mystery, 13-year-old Zack disappears in the middle of the night, leaving his buddies to find him before an unexpected hurricane plows through the area.

cherylrogers2x3Rogers soon will be releasing a workbook edition of her short story collection, Just Like Jonah Wail Tales featuring modern Jonahs who learn there is a price to pay when you disobey. Just Like Jonah Wail Tales Workbook, which is aimed at 10 to 14 year olds, will have eight stories, two more than the original ebook, plus discussion questions and related Scriptures. It targets Christian parents and grandparents, Sunday school teachers, homeschool families, youth groups, churches and Bible study groups. It also can be used by individuals for personal study and reflection.
