As the small hands stroked the soft puppy fur, she looked towards her mother and father. “Why did God let Cuddles Die? Why didn’t he answer our prayers?”
“He did, said the man. “Cuddles is not in pain anymore.”
“Oh, but, we’ll miss her, won’t we?” The little girl sniffed.
“Yes, but God left us six puppies to take her place.”
The child placed the little puppy into the hands of the woman. The woman stroked the tiny warm body and then gently lay her on her back in an upright position in the palm of her hand. She used her finger to insert a small nipple into the puppy’s mouth. She then squeezed the bottle to gently squirt some liquid into the puppy. “Oh –h-h, what’s that,” thought Alexis. “Not bad.”
